Developed in Collaboration with Fraunhofer IOF as Part of the BMBF-Funded LIVE2QMIC Project
As part of LIVE2QMIC (project 13N15953), a project funded by the BMBF in the program "Quantentechnologien – von den Grundlagen zum Markt" (Quantum technologies - from the basics to the market) this protype was developed together with the Photonics Quantum Systems Department of Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering - IOF.
With this prototype we offer an entangled photon pair source at 1064 nm integrated into our versatile, flexible housing platform VisIR, a compact, stand-alone solution controlled via USB interface and PicoQuant laser driver software.
As pump source an power optimized VisUV-532 is used, which is based on a Master Oscillator Fiber Amplifier (MOFA) concept with frequency conversion stage. It provides ps-pulses with average power level up to 300 mW, which is needed to generate the achieved high photon pair rate for 1064 nm.
Such a photon pair source is of great interest for quantum technologies like quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum communication.
