rapidFLIM – redefining the standards for dynamic FLIM imaging

PicoQuant releases application note describing a novel fluorescence lifetime imaging method with fast image acquisition

A recent publication by PicoQuant lays out the basics of rapidFLIM, a novel, dynamic Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) method, along with practical applications. The rapidFLIM approach allows image acquisition with several frames per second and thus opens the way for the study of dynamic processes in living cells or other materials through fast fluorescence lifetime imaging. It is ideally suited for observing fast processes, like protein interaction or chemical interactions, following highly mobile species including live cells, moving organelles, or nanoparticles, as well as investigate Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) dynamics. Depending on sample brightness and image size, rapidFLIM allows acquiring more than 10 to 15 frames per second.

14th European Short Course on Time-resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy

The course held by PicoQuant and the CFS offers an in-depth introduction with lectures and practical sessions

The annual short course “Principles and Applications of Time-resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy” is organized by PicoQuant GmbH in cooperation with Joseph R. Lakowicz from the Center of Fluorescence Spectroscopy (CFS) in Baltimore, USA. It gives an in-depth introduction to the principles of fluorescence spectroscopy and its applications to the Life Sciences. This years course will be held from November 7 to 10, 2016 in Berlin, the capital city of Germany.

PicoQuant expands its VisUV picosecond pulsed laser platform

PicoQuant has introduced two new pulsed laser modules VisUV-1064 and VisUV-532-HP, rounding out the VisUV platform line-up. Up to now, modules based on this platform provided laser pulses at 266 nm, 355 nm, and 532 nm, either individually or in combination with one or two other wavelengths. The new VisUV-1064 emits picosecond pulsed laser light at 1064 nm with an average optical power of more than 1 W, while the VisUV-532-HP provides high-powered sub nanosecond pulses at 532 nm with an average optical power of up to 750 mW.

Girls’ Day 2016 at PicoQuant

„Make the invisible visible“ was PicoQuant's motto for this year's Girls' Day. During this open day, young females from the age of 10 and upwards had the chance to experience the world of technology, crafts, engineering, and science, and to meet female role models in leadership positions in research, business and politics. At the premises of PicoQuant, the girls learned about light, fluorescence and light microscopy. Naturally occurring fluorophors such as chlorophyll from plants or the aesculin of horse chestnut were made to shine with bright new colors under UV light. In addition, single cell structures far too small to be seen by the naked eye were made visible by light microscopy.

The Girls' Day is an annual event where research institutes and technical enterprises in Germany open their doors in order to give young females an insight into professions where women are still underrepresented.

PicoQuant’s LSM upgrade kit now supports the Olympus FluoView FV3000

New upgrade kit expands the capabilities of the laser scanning microscope Olympus FluoView FV3000 with time-resolved analysis

PicoQuant GmbH has expanded the compatibility list of its FLIM and FCS upgrade kit to include the Olympus FV3000 confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). The upgrade kit is an external addition to the CLSM enhancing its capabilities by the addition of time-resolved techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), or advanced time-resolved Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) analysis. Even the new approach rapidFLIM for very fast and accurate FLIM imaging is available.
