PicoQuant Application Specialists host FLIM and FCS workshops during elmi2021 meeting

Live demonstrations and measurements

Our Application Specialists Fabian Jolmes and Evangelos Sisamakis will hold 3 workshops during the online elmi2021 meeting, taking place June 21-25, 2021.

1) Visualizing dynamic processes with rapidFLIMHiRes, the ultra fast FLIM imaging method with outstanding 10ps time resolution
Fabian Jolmes
June 24, 12.00 CEST

2) Measuring concentration gradients and diffusion in the microenvironment of a protein-releasing bead by Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy
Evangelos Sisamakis
June 25, 11.45 CEST

3) How FLIM can be used for species separation from contrast to quantification
Fabian Jolmes
June 25, 14.00 CEST

You can select the workshops during the registration process on the elmi2021 website.

Invited webinar: Functional studies of dysfunctional proteins

June 25, 2021 with Prof. Elizabeth Rhoades

Our series of free webinars featuring renowned scientists continues: Prof. Elizabeth Rhoades from the University of Pennsylvania (USA) will provide insights into how her research group uses fluorescence lifetime microscopy, single molecule fluorescence, and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to characterize the interactions of the intrinsically disordered proteins tau and alpha-synuclein with cellular binding partners. Knowledge of their functional mechanisms may prove useful in the identification of novel therapeutic approaches.

Webinar title: Functional studies of dysfunctional proteins

Invited speaker: Prof. Elizabeth Rhoades
Date: June 25, 2021 at 10 am EDT (UTC-4)

First online edition of our Time-resolved Microscopy Course

Fully interactive online event provided an in-depth introduction into the subject via lectures and practical sessions

The 13th edition of PicoQuant’s international course on “Time-resolved Microscopy and Correlation Spectroscopy” was held for the first time as a fully online event from March 2-5, 2021. More than 80 researchers and students from 21 countries took a virtual journey to Berlin to learn more about the world of time-resolved microscopy with a focus on life sciences.

Congratulations to the winners of PicoQuant’s SPIE Photonics West 2021 picture contest

As the Photonics West was held virtually this year, our traditional Young Investigator Award could not be awarded during the BiOS session on Single Molecule Spectroscopy and Superresolution Imaging. Alternatively, we decided to support young researchers by holding a picture contest and asked for selfies with a PicoQuant product.

Congratulations to the two winners of our picture contest:

Phillip McCann (University of Tokyo, Japan) and

Veronika Parfentyeva (ICFO, Spain)

Both will have their SPIE attendance fee refunded by PicoQuant.

Free webinar: Uncovering the conformational dynamics of IDPs

Invited speaker Prof. Andrea Soranno shares insights into his work

Quantifying structural heterogeneity and dynamics in disordered proteins is one of the key steps to unveil how the protein sequence encodes for intrinsically disordered protein (IPD) conformations and interactions and, ultimately, function. Join our invited speaker, Dr. Andrea Soranno, to learn how his group uses smFRET and nsFCS to uncover the dynamics and functioning of IDPs, such as the Polypyrimidine Tract Binding Protein, on the single molecule level.
