The first workshop of its kind was a real success and the registration had to be closed fairly in advance. Finally, more than 50 researches participated in this exciting new event and enjoyed 11 lectures, data analysis training and hands-on experimentation on a MicroTime 200 and a FluoView 1000 from Olympus upgraded to FLIM & FCS capabilities. The topics of the talks covered a wide range of up-to-date research in single molecule spectroscopy and focussed on a wide variety of methods like Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) or photon antibunching to name only a few. This workshop was the perfect event for many nice discussions and to start networking - new exciting ideas and concepts were developed and new cooperations between different groups in the world were initiated.
Due to the enthusiastic feedback it was decided to establish this workshop as an annual event directly before the Photonics West exhibition. Accordingly, the next workshop is scheduled for January 2007.
